Giveaway and Review: The End of Me by Tara Brown

**Giveaway at bottom of post**

His death was almost the end of me.

He was still everywhere, surrounding me.

In our children's eyes, in the smell lingering in our bed, in candy bar wrappers stuffed down the side of the minivan driver door.

He was everywhere except where I needed him to be. In my arms, kissing my lips, on the name of the deed to our house.

When his death didn't end me, the proposal from the man who owned every moment of my life, did. My husband carried on in the places he wanted to be but I was gone the moment I agreed.

The moment I let him have me, was the end of me.

My Rating: Rape! (5 stars)

Genre: Ummm....Romantic suspense? (see below)

Steam Level: Super Hot!!!

Bam! What the hell did I just read? Romantic Suspense? Thriller? Erotica? Kidnapping? Love Triangle? I don’t even know, but I loved it and was sucked in from the first page to the last. Evie’s husband is dead, but before he died he got into some deep shit and now a man she doesn't know owns her house, her bank account, and her body. I can’t say more than that because there are so many crazy twists and turns that I don’t want to give anything away, it’s best to go into it blind and experience the ride for yourself. The whole books has that hauntingly eerie feel to it as you try to figure out what is going on and piece together the puzzle. Nothing is as it seems….

Meet Cooper, Evi, and Servario:

I loved Evi; she was vulnerable because of what she had been through but also strong and stubborn. As an ex-spy turned soccer mom she is surprisingly relatable and sarcastic, she had me cracking up constantly at her dry humor. She has been giving a shit lot in life but instead of medicating herself with excuses and self-pity she sets out to make things right and ensure the safety of her children, at all costs. She struggles with something we all have at one point: to follow your brain/heart or to let your libido lead the way.

Cooper is the CI agent that has been keeping tabs on Evi and her dead husband. Now that the cat is out of the bag he is trying to help keep Evi safe as well as figure out what she knows about her husband’s dealings. He struggles between doing what’s best for Evi and doing what the government asks of him. The banter between these two was hilarious, and all the cougar references had me cracking up. The humor was much needed to help lighten up such a serious situation.

Servario. Ah, Servario! He was the bad guy…wait…no, the good guy! Um, I’m still not sure exactly what he was except for possessive, controlling, and undeniably sexy. Was he ultimately Evie’s savior or her downfall? I think that answers will vary for the individual reader.

His arms wrapped round me, pulling me in. He bent and kissed the top of my head, “I Don’t want to have to kill you to make this feeling go away, Evie.”
His words made me instantly sick. I was at my threshold for disturbing shit.
“Don’t make me love you,” he muttered, “Because it will end badly for us both.”

“You are the most dangerous kind of woman in the world.”…..
“You make me want to be worthy of you. That’s a dangerous effect to have on a mal like me.”

There are so many layers in the book and each one adds to the plot and character development in a unique and jaw dropping way. It’s spy thriller and kidnapping meets erotica, the sex is hot and there is no rape but I wouldn't exactly call the sex consensual either. There is no black and white. This book is different than anything I’ve ever read and doesn’t fit neatly into any specific genre or theme. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, it will keep your panties wet, and will leave you ready for the next installment.

I LOVE that Tara Brown doesn’t write to confirm to a certain genre or appease a specific audience. She writes the story as she and characters see it, everyone else be damned, and it shows through her ingenious and intricate plot lines and stomach dropping revelations. THANK YOU Ms. Brown! This book isn’t for everyone, but for those of us that every now and again crave the unexpected and the forbidden wild ride, then this one will knock you off your feet.

The End of Me is the provocative begging of a huge series. While it didn’t end on a cliffhanger per say, their’s definitely more story to tell and plots to be resolved. I wanted a little ‘more’ in the end, but who doesn’t in a good book?

I received an ARC for an honest review.

General question. When you make giveaways, are they international or just for the USA? Because it either doesn't say or I can't find it. Thanks!
