**Giveaway a bottom of post**
Warning! This review contains spoilers to the first book in the series, Ten Days of Perfect. So if you haven’t read it yet I’d recommend jumping down to the end of this review and entering the giveaway, it was one of my favorite reads last year (4.5 stars for me)! If you have read Ten Days of Perfect I would highly recommend re-reading it or re-reading the last few chapters because Reckless Abandon picks up right where it leaves off and if you don’t remember what’s going on, you’ll be a little confused.
My Rating: Date! (4 – 4.5 stars)
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Steam Level: Hot!
Reckless Abandon isn’t what I was expecting; there is no
easy make up here. It’s packed full of raw heartache and chaotic emotions. It
will pull on your heart stings until they snap and just when you think you
can’t take it anymore, the unbelievable happens and changes EVERYthing...
“I learn in an instant that sorrow isn’t the absence of passion. Sorrow
is the darkest, most intense form of passion hidden in the recesses of the
human spirit.”
In Reckless Abandon November is hurt, confused, and sad.
She’s trying to pick the pieces of her life back up and figure out what
happened and what she wants now. Her emotions are all over the place which
leads to couple of decisions that honestly kind of pissed me off and had me
shouting NOOO at my kindle. It took too long for her to realize what she wanted
and where she belonged and in the process she hurt a lot of people, especially
Adrian. I think she gravitates towards Adrian because he is something she knows
and is comfortable, safe, she is thinking with her brain and not following her
heart.
I wasn’t a big fan of Adrian in Ten Days of Perfect but he
really grew on me in this book. He loves and cares about Em and does a good job
of supporting her without forcing himself on her. He really seems to have her best
interests at heart and I hurt for him when Em makes a series of decisions with
him. (You’ll see what I mean).
Bo, I wanted more Bo in the beginning of this one! I fell in
love with him in Ten Days of Perfect and I hated seeing him so hurt and broken here.
He obviously made bad judgment calls that led to the situation they’re in, but
he truly regrets it. He is still in love with Em and is torn between doing
whatever it takes to get her back and respecting her wishes.
“But you were the best thing that happened to Bo, and I don’t care what
anyone says about how fast, crazy and reckless it was. It was you two. It was
your story, no one else’s” ~ Rae (Bo’s sister)
The first 60% or so read like a 3.5-4 star book and then the
last 30%, WOW, 5+++ stars for the emotional intensity. Andrea Randall really
has a way with words, the descriptions are beautiful and you feel what the
characters feel. You will laugh, cry, and swear, your heart will break, then it
will be put back together just to break again. Do you love angst? You will get
a heartbreakingly healthy dose in this one. I highly recommend it if you read
Ten Days of Perfect
The ending was a little quick for me, after all the angst
and drama I wanted a little more happy! But no worries, a third book in the series
is set to release late august, I can’t wait!
