Genre: Contemporary Romantic Suspense/Erotica
Steam Level: Boiling Point!!!
Being Me dives in right where If I Were You leaves off with
Sara searching through Rebecca’s storage unit and the lights going out. I would
recommend re-reading If I Were You or at least the last couple chapters so you
aren’t confused by anything going on. After reading the journals I had become so
immersed in Rebecca’s world that I had to remind myself what was going on in
Sara’s. At the end of this review I have included a reading order for the
series as there has been just a little confusion. Now, on to the good stuff!
The hauntingly sensual style of this series is taken up
another notch in Being Me. Characters and relationships are developed even
further. We get to see even more layers of the conflicted and beautiful Chris
Merritt. My heart broke for him as we learned about his past and events going
on in his present. His personality is hot and cold and all over the place as we slowly discover some
of his painful secrets. There are just so many layers to this man and I’m
willing to bet we have only scratched the surface of them.
“Baby, the ways I’m going to fuck you are too many to count, but not tonight.
Tonight, I’m going to make love to you.” ~Chris
Sara takes a stand in what you she wants and fights for it
in this book. But she is also tormented by thoughts and worries of Rebecca and Ella.
The writing style throws us right into Sara’s mind and lets us really feel every
conflicting emotion that she has and why she makes the decisions she does. We
finally see parts of Sara’s past as well that allow us to understand why she
was so hesitant of Chris at first.
The emotional journey between Chris and Sara deepens, their
physical relationship is taken to the next level, and commitments are made.
They do have some trust issues and it was heart wrenching to see them try to
work through them. It always comes back to them being too emotionally damaged
to have a full relationship. Can two broken hearts love each other?
“Let me love what you hate. Let me do that for you. “ ~Sara
Do we get some answers in Being Me? YES!!! This last quarter
of the book is heart stopping and heart breaking as secrets are revealed, decisions
are made, and actions are taken. Some of my suspicions were confirmed but
others threw me for a loop that I did NOT see coming. I won’t say more than
that because I don’t want to spoil anything for you.
Being Me is exquisitely and hauntingly written. It is unlike
anything I have ever read. It is boiling hot. It will immerse you in Rebecca
and Sara’s world until you can’t think of anything else. It will leave you with
the biggest book hangover ever! While there is no huge cliffhanger at the
ending and most of our questions are answered it still left me anxiously
awaiting the next book, Revealing Us!
